Wizardry Games
Edit
The Wizardry series has spanned many consoles and computer platforms - it may be the most varied game ever created in terms of how it is spread across platforms. Since 1981 over two dozen games in the series have been released, most recently for the Playstation 2.
What is remarkable about the Wizardry series is that you have real choices. As in any other console or PC based RPG, there is an objective that has to be fulfilled with what is accessible in-game. You can't decide to ditch the dungeon and troll the local tavern for lusty barmaids, but you can do something pretty incredible. In almost all of the Wizardry games you can decide to kill every single NPC, grind like crazy, and brute force your way straight to the end of the game. In Wizardry V in particular, you can skip floor 4 ENTIRELY and almost all of floor 5.
